About Me
Hi my name is Daenel, welcome to Living Outside the Stacks!
I’ve been blogging here since July 2010. Prior to that I blogged at Curious Child’s Library Wanderings (my bloggy baby that I haven’t had the heart to kick out of the nest delete).
A few years ago, one of my librarian friends asked us to write our “unofficial” bios and this was mine:
I have the research skills of a librarian, the preservation skills of an archivist, the organizational skills of a mother and the domestic skills of a Stepford wife.
I now use it as my “official” bio because it sums up my life perfectly. I’m an archivist, librarian and history instructor at a local college, a wife of one, a mom of five and a grandmother of two. I’m crazy smart and a little bit ditzy with a smidge of snark. I pride myself on being incredibly organized in a fly~by~the~seat~of~my~pants kind of way.
LIVING OUTSIDE THE STACKS
The name “Living Outside the Stacks” comes from the idea that I would blog about all things not library related. Well, that didn’t last long. Being a librarian is what makes me uniquely me. Therefore, I blog about all things mom related like family, shopping, cooking, finding my place in the world, etc. with a bits and pieces of library ephemera thrown in to keep things fun. Seriously, libraries are fun ~ spend some time hanging out at your public library, oh, the characters you’ll meet…
I also like to try new things/products and review them – I’m a woman, I have lots of opinions and I’m not afraid to share them.
Other fun tidbits:
- I love to read and have an unhealthy obsession for all things pop culture
- Without my BlackBerry Storm Droid I am nothing
- Coffee is my passion
- If shopping was an Olympic sport, I’d have several gold medals
I welcome all comments and love having discussions from the shallow to the hot and heavy, so please pull up a chair and talk to me….
